Set to "Including GST" already. Enter the total and pick the rate.

About Reverse GST Calculator

A reverse GST calculation starts from the final price, such as an MRP or a bill total, and works out how much of it is tax. The formula is taxable value = total ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100).

For example, an MRP of ₹1,180 that includes 18% GST has a taxable value of ₹1,000 and ₹180 of GST. Taking 18% off ₹1,180 would give the wrong answer, because GST was charged on the lower amount.

How it works

  1. Enter the amount.
  2. Choose "Before GST" to add tax or "Including GST" to remove it, then pick the rate.
  3. Read the taxable value, CGST and SGST or IGST, and the total. Copy the result if you need it.

Questions people ask

How do I calculate GST from the total amount?

Divide the total by 1 plus the rate as a decimal. For 18%, divide by 1.18; for 5%, divide by 1.05. The difference between the total and the result is the GST.

How do I remove 18% GST from an MRP?

Divide the MRP by 1.18. An MRP of ₹590 gives ₹500 before tax and ₹90 of GST.

How do I find the GST when the rate is 5%?

Divide the total by 1.05. A total of ₹1,050 gives ₹1,000 before tax and ₹50 of GST.
